This was our very first vacation using a tour guide throughout the whole trip… we documented our vacation!

This vlog is a glimpse into our first full day in Beijing, China. Jet lagged from our flight over seas but the thrill of the adventure provided plenty of energy to visit the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Golden Mask Dynasty Show all in one day. It was an exhausting but an exciting adventure.

I experienced my first squatty potty, let’s just say it was an unforgettable experience to say the least.

China’s population is well over a billion people. In Beijing alone, there’s over 21 million compared to #NYC at 8.5 million.

The Summer Palace was an imperial garden in Qing Dynasty.
UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List. It declared the Summer Palace “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value”.

Tiananmen Square is a city square in the center of Beijing, China. Tiananmen Square is within the top ten largest city squares in the world.

I remember learning about Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 my senior year in high school. Those memories and the lives lost during that time… may they all rest in peace.

The Forbidden City is the largest ancient palatial structure in the world, it is one of the most important five palaces in the world. Such a divine place was certainly forbidden to ordinary people, hints the name the Forbidden City. It consists of 90 palaces and courtyards, 980 buildings and 8,704 rooms.

Golden Mask Dynasty Show

Set in the Golden Mask Dynasty, a legendary age in China, the story tells how a queen, who wears a golden mask, creates a splendid dynasty. The play has eight chapters and included more than 200 actors from China and abroad. Produced by Chinese playwrights, directors and designers, the play features Chinese dances, acrobatics, costumes, and lighting and acoustics.
